Elizabeth Eddy

Elizabeth Eddy had been a professional soccer player in the National Women’s Soccer League for 11 years when she wrote an editorial that was published in the New York Post in October, 2025.  In her opinion letter, Elizabeth encouraged the league to preserve women’s rights and fairness in competition. Elizabeth noted that other women’s sports organizations had adopted clear rules about sex and gender eligibility and she was concerned about the absence of such clarity within the NWSL.  Elizabeth stated that the National Women’s Soccer League must be for women, only.

About 75% of Americans believe men should not compete in women’s sports.  Even though Elizabeth spoke for the majority of Americans, wrath rained down on her from members of her team and others associated with, or fans of, the NWSL.  The wrath even included claims she was racist and transphobic.

Nothing can get a person in trouble like speaking the truth.  Unsurprisingly, Elizabeth’s contract as a professional soccer player was not renewed at the conclusion of the 2025 season.  Elizabeth is now a frequent public speaker promoting “women only” in “women sports” and she recently spoke at a women’s sports rally at the Supreme Court in January, 2026 while the Supreme Court was hearing two cases involving men playing in women’s sports.
